The Strategic Role of Biogas Plants in Agriculture, Livestock Farming, Energy and the Local Economy

21 de October de 2026

Few types of infrastructure generate as much debate today as biogas plants. Numerous local residents’ groups have emerged in opposition to them, and many of their concerns are understandable. However, we believe the discussion has become polarized and is often based more on perceptions than on rigorous studies and reliable data.

A constructive debate would benefit us all, as there is a great deal at stake for the environment and for local and regional economies.

Since the arguments in favor are rarely heard, we are sharing a compilation of the benefits of these facilities in the attached PDF. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to replace an analysis of the potential drawbacks, but rather to present the other side of the discussion.

These benefits are widely recognized in countries such as Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, where numerous plants have been operating for decades, often close to residential areas and without causing disturbances to local communities; quite the opposite, in fact.

We would be delighted to hear your opinions, whether for or against, especially if they are supported by specific data and real-world experiences.
